So easy to miss this gem. In the middle of the busy Washington DC areas and roads there lies a garden so peaceful and with serenity that brings you to another level of tranquility. Great lay out with benches for resting. Two museum are within the garden itself. Franked by the castles. A lovely place that you cannot miss. A must go.
I visited Enid A. Haupt Garden thinking it would have some pretty flowers. It does have pretty flowers, but it has so much more. For starters, there are a ton of different varieties of plants, trees, and bushes. But the garden is filled with little pockets of chairs, and tables, and benches where visitors can relax in semi-privacy. There are also charging stations with outlets (and benches and desk-like surfaces) where visitors can recharge their phones or work on laptops while they're plugged in. You'll need to bring your own charger, of course.
This would be a great place to work outside when the weather is nice, or take a first date.
The only thing to watch out for are mosquitoes!
This garden is located between.
The national museum of Asian art in the museum of African art behind the Smithsonian castle. It contains the Moon Gate Garden, a wind sculpture the Andrew Jackson Downing Urn, the Fountain Garden and the Parterre. This is a pleasant retreat from the hustle and bustle of the National mall.
This large landscaped garden features some beautiful water accents and several places to sit and get away from the mall madness. It’s just a serene spot that is relatively quiet compared to everything else.

The garden features a variety of plant life, including colorful flowers, herbs, and trees, and is meticulously maintained throughout the year. The garden is in front of Smithsonian Castle. I visited in April during cherry blossom Festival. At that time Magnolia was blooming, so beautiful.
Although it's beautiful any time of the year, try to see the garden in the spring when the magnolia trees are in full bloom. It's absolutely spectacular. You can't miss it if you're going to the Sackler or African Art Museum.
Beautiful garden in the heart of DC. Plenty of benches to sit and relax. I have visited the garden in different seasons - spring being my favorite. Sharing some photos from this summer.
